Epsilon Mark IV Review

From JANE's Space Quarterly, written by D. Ternes

The Mark IV version of the Epsilon cutters was proposed by Pika Fleet Systems as a stronger patrol unit to be used in and around the edges of war zones in place of scouts. This version of the Epsilon is intended to change it from a simple patrol and revenue cutter into a real warship.

The design reflects the latest trend in Federation ship designs, with a much greater emphasis on photon torpedoes, even to the notable reduction in the phaser capability as compared to the earlier versions.

To date, Star Fleet has shown little interest in the design, as its' function duplicates that of a number of existing designs. However, quite a few systems both in and outside the Federation have placed tentative orders and appear to plan on using the Epsilon MK IV as anti-pirate patrol craft.
